Operation of the Cleaning Device

The indentation of each nozzle (1) protrudes beyond the inner surface of the shower(2). so that these can be reached by the built-in brushes of the cleaning device (3). The brush bar is attached to the spindle (4) of the dirt discharge valve and brush operation device (5). To operate the spindle (4), you can use either the handwheel (6) or else a ratchet.

When the handwheel is turned, the brush is turned spirally according to the spindle geometry, thus cleaning both the nozzle indentations and the inner pipe surface.

Operating the handwheel counterclockwise simultaneously opens the dirt discharge valve, the resulting pressure drop thus causing dirt removal through the valve while not interrupting the spraying action. Turning the device in a clockwise direction closes the valve again.

How often the cleaning procedure should occur depends on the water quality. Normally, one to two operations per shift will be sufficient. If required, the operation can be automated.

The shower can be retrofitted with an automatic cleaning device if there is enough space at the paper machine.
